Back At Work
He's in his mid-thirties yet speaks like a 70 year old. He says things like, "Gee Golly!" Seriously. He does. And he's so flippin pleasant. I mean, it's Monday morning for goodness' sake!
Gee Golly.

Exhausted but Happy
Yesterday totally rocked. I haven't had that much fun in forever. The family got together for a picnic at a lake nearby. We played volleyball, swam & ate. Grandpa fished and caught a large catfish, which was thrown back in after a loud round of applause. (poor guy - I hope he makes it)
We talked about having a paddle boat race for a few hours and by the time everyone got around to it the paddle boats had closed. I think big brother was afraid he was gonna lose to me. And rightly so! I also got to see my nephew Jacob swim for the first time. He wasn't afraid at all. He looked at the water curiously and rubbed his hand in it. He is, of course, the most adorable baby I've ever seen.
Today, Memorial Day, has turned into the laziest of lazy days. It is raining here as it will all day according to the weatherperson (note my political correctness?) And that, of course, inspires nothing in me except the desire to lay on the couch with my dogs and watch old black & white movies.
Maybe I'll have myself a Cary Grant-a-thon. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

I Love My Sister

Nora just graduated high school. She got full scholarships to the college that was her first choice. I'm so extremely proud of her. Sometimes, I'm a little amazed at how much I love her. I just want to squeeze her. I really love my brothers too, but there is a special bond that sisters hold. You wouldn't think we would feel so close since we have different mothers and we haven't lived together in 12 years. I don't think I like her newest boyfriend though.

It's Hump Day!
Don't get me wrong - there are many benefits to my job, that's why I've stayed here for 5 years. It's a small office (which I work better in). It's a relaxed atmosphere - I do NOT take it for granted that I can wear jeans & a t-shirt to work. You aren't micro-managed - I don't have someone looking over my shoulder 24-7 and therefore often have time to post to my blog or chat on my forum (which I'm TOTALLY addicted to). And mostly, I really like half of my co-workers and get along with all of them. As far as my work itself...I mostly like it. I don't like soliciting or dealing with solicitors but oh well.Geez, I really got off on a tangent. The whole point of mentioning the meeting was to say that the President is out of the office today so our meeting has been put off until tomorrow. Yay!
Hubby & I played tennis again yesterday. My serve has improved much but I am still struggling big time with my backhand. It's so much fun to play though. The courts are starting to become less crowded now. There's that rush at the beginning of warm weather with people wanting to play and then it just trickles off.
We missed the first half of the finale of The Contender last night. That really pisses me off. I missed my very favorite Alfonso in a bronze match against Jesse. Thank goodness Yahoo! has the matches on their website. I gotta quit watching reality shows because 8 out of 10 times they do not end up the way I want them to and I get disappointed. I don't think Sergio is a hateful man. In fact he seems very passionate about his family and the sport and he seems very intelligent. But he is also very cocky in the ring which turns me off and he let himself become involved in trash talking which I think is just terrible. Peter really rubbed off on me. At the beginning of the show I didn't like him very much. But he turned out to be a really really nice guy. I did not however like the overbearing attitude of his father. Although it was thanks to the father that we got the best line of the show:
Manfredo to Stallone: "You gotta do another Rocky movie."
Stallone: "Nah. I'm too old. What would I fight? Arthritis?"
I actually need to quit posting now even though I could probably go on quite a bit more. I do actually have work to do today. I added some new features in the sidebar too - a countdown for all of you Harry Potter-philes and Serenity-philes!

Okay, so maybe NBC doesn't suck ass...
Does Scrubs get a full season even though it will start midseason?
"Definitely. We are 100 percent behind Scrubs and have given it a full-season pickup." NBC boss Kevin Reilly's words not mine.
Oooh! She also says:
Anything on Alyson Hannigan's new show?
Only that it is fantastic. The only laugh-tracked series I've seen and liked in nearly five years.

Thinking about Yesterday
top of already feeling nostalgic from looking at the pictures, I went
to my younger sister's high school graduation this morning. Of course I
cried. I can't believe how grown-up she is.

Trip Down Memory Lane

Summer Plans
Actually Hubby & I have started to play tennis. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I suck. Big time. BUT, I'm having fun. And that's the whole point, right? Right?! My problem is that I have a hard time not going hitting a ball like a baseball and therefore all my tennis hits are pop balls that go out to the left of the court. Poor Hubby. He's really tired of fishing the balls out of the brush. He said the chiggers are maddening in there. Go figure.
Now that tv is dull, I can concentrate on yard work. Well, maybe for another week or two. Once it's 200º outside - forget it! I do have plenty of plans for the inside of my house (I can hear Hubby's groan of irritation as I type). I LOVE to paint - which sounds crazy right? - but I do. I have so many plans to paint and make my own drapes, etc... Ya know, those home improvement shows are kinda dangerous. They make you believe that you actually have the talent to accomplish those tasks. I've never even touched a real sewing machine before and I want to make my own drapes? I guess it's true though - you gotta start somewhere. (Look at me, I've officially been inducted into the cliché hall of fame).
We have made a pact [Hubby & I] that we are going to start spending more family time not in front of the television, which can't hurt. We are planning on going camping soon and hopefully going to make some weekend trips to visit family & friends (Brunswick, GA; Greenville; Kingsport, TN). And all of these trips are things we can do with our dogs whom we really hate to leave behind.

NBC sucks ass!
Calling all Scrubs fans! NBC has announced their new fall lineup and Scrubs was left off!! They haven't canceled the show but aren't sure when they are going to put it back on! It's just in limbo.
This is dangerous because usually when they do that the shows end up getting axed. "out of sight, out of mind" is their motto.
So, make as much noise as you can - harrass the shit out of 'em if you have to - just let them know you love Scrubs!
JD rules!
Sunday Night TV
Desperate Housewives & Grey's Anatomy held no surprises but were entertaining. However, The Contender had my favorite Alfonso Gomez fighting and losing. I was so incredibly sad. I wanted to give him a hug. (Truth be known, I'm kinda crushing on the guy.) He carried himself with so much class and grace. He actually went and congratulated the guy who beat him and wished him luck!! How awesome is that?! I never would have thought for a second that I would enjoy watching boxing but I have really enjoyed The Contender! Last night I was jumping up and down, cheering for Alfonso. At least he lost to a really nice guy instead of one of the conceited jackasses. I love the underdogs.
Oh! Oh! I do have something to discuss other than tv! Hubby & I went on a sailing cruise of Lake Murray for our anniversary Saturday night. We had a really really great time! It was so calming and peaceful! The water at night looked like black velvet and made me think of the movie "What Dreams May Come". We went garage sale shopping too but didn't really find anything we were looking for. Bummer.

Oh Goody! More TV For Me To Be Obsessed With
There are whole bunch of Buffy/Angel alums in the shows! David Boreanaz (Angel) in Bones, Nicholas Brendan (Xander) in Kitchen Confidential, Tim Minear (producer/director/writer) & Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb - Firefly & Hamilton - Angel) in The Inside, Elizabeth Rohm (Kate Lockley) in Briar & Graves, and that guy from the swim team that Buffy tried desperately to help keep from turning into a sea creature in Prison Break. Ok, so he wasn't a major character but he was hot enough to catch me eye and wonder why they didn't utilize his character more. Well, he died in that episode, but hey! they could've brought him back. BTW, his name is Wentworth Miller (just to give him his creds).
The one I find the most exciting is Nicholas Brendan's as I really really like the casting. John Daley was great in the short lived shows: Freaks & Geeks and The Geena Davis Show. Bradley Cooper & Frank Langella are both great actors. You've also got two great blondes, Jaime King (who was just a success in Sin City) and Bonnie Summerville (Zach Braff's squeeze). Oh, and that guy from Harold & Kumar!

There are a few more that seem interesting to me. I like Ashley Williams and hope her pilot goes well. Goodmorning Miami had potential but they just couldn't seem to work out the kinks. And I like the casting in Head Case - Chris O'Donnell is such a cutie! And Windfall...Well, I guess I just need to admit it. I know I'm no longer 15 but my crushes on Jason Gedrick & Luke Perry still exist and they are both in this show! Aaaah!
**Modify**
Whedonesque has announced : " Alyson Hannigan, Christian Kane and Amy Acker's pilots get picked up according to The Hollywood Reporter. Their shows 'How I Met Your Mother', 'American Crime' and 'The Unit' should be premiering sometime next season on CBS."

New Toy

We got a new HP color laserjet printer w/ faxing, scanning & copying capabilities here at work. Since I am the marketing person and I tend to print the most color copies it is on my desk.
So, I've been getting to have the fun of playing with it! New toy to distract myself from actual work! Yipee!

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow
I'm okay. Thanks for all the well wishes - on & off of the internet.
I think hubby is going through some sort of mid-life thing that has more to do with him than me - questioning what it is he wants with his life. We’ve had many serious long talks and we’ve decided we’re going to get some of those relationship books and work them together and also set aside some time for us to do constructive things together. A “date night” if you will. We've promised to put 110% into this - really, really work at it. If all else fails, we will try marriage counseling.
It comes down to the fact that I really love him and I want to work this out. He says he feels the same and I have no reason not to believe him. Our relationship has never been the one from the fairytales. It's not built on passion but instead on loyalty and compassion. Hubby just needs a lot of help opening up and I need him to be the support system that I need to tackle certain obstacles in my life.

My World Is Kinda Messed Up Right Now
I went to the doctor today. He tells me I'm not ovulating because I've gained weight. He was all nice about it and all but for some reason in my head, it sounds much nastier.
My husband & I are having a bit of trouble. I think he's having doubts about our marriage. It comes as such a shock to me. I thought we were really happy.
